Fall 2023 DOT compliance and safety events are almost here. Check out what's happening across the industry this month.

September has made its way back around, bringing end-of-summer celebrations – including Labor Day – with it. It’s also the perfect time to recognize your drivers during Truck Driver Appreciation Week and look at the numerous conferences and safety events happening in the industry.

Truck Driver Appreciation Week

You still have time to prepare for this seven-day occasion from September 10-16; we’ve even provided a few ideas to show your appreciation for all your drivers’ hard work and dedication. This annual event also usually comes with some extra perks from well-known restaurants, truck stops, and other establishments, which we’ll cover on the Foley blog during Truck Driver Appreciation Week.

Industry Conferences & Safety Events

Ready to do some networking and stay up to date on the industry’s latest news and trends? Here are six conferences you can attend throughout the US this month.

National Private Truck Council National Safety Conference

The annual conference of the NPTC will take place from Sept 6-8 at the Omni Orlando Resort in Championsgate, FL, and will focus on safety and security issues facing today’s private fleets. Network opportunities with over 300 safety professionals, 16 hours of educational content, and a special ceremony and luncheon presentation of the annual National Driver All-Star Awards are available for registrants to experience.

You can learn more about the event and register to attend here.

Intermodal EXPO 2023

If you’re looking to squeeze in some more summer weather before Fall is officially here, stop by this year’s Intermodal EXPO in sunny Long Beach, CA from September 11-13. This expo offers educational and networking events for professionals in intermodal transportation.

You’ll experience over 80 innovative companies showcasing products and services that support the growth of intermodal. John Foley, former lead solo pilot of the Blue Angels, will speak to the importance of upholding a culture of high trust, leadership, and teamwork.

Sound like something your company could benefit from? Register today.

CVSA Annual Conference and Exhibition

Speaking of the CVSA, their yearly conference will be held in Grapevine, Texas from Sept 17-21. This event focuses on enhancing transportation safety throughout North America. Discussion points will include driver fatigue, hazardous materials, International Roadcheck, and human trafficking prevention, among other important industry matters.

If you’re interested in attending, view the whole schedule or register before September 1st to avoid late registration fees.

Annual International Conference of the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA)

On the other side of the country is the annual International Conference of the AAMVA. Hosted in Madison, WI from September 26-28, plenty of networking and educational sessions on driver and vehicle safety, customer service innovations, fraud, impaired driving enforcement, workforce management, automated vehicles, out-of-state driver violations, and other hot topics will take place.

Other topics of discussion will include sustainability initiatives, partnerships with highway safety offices, and regulating entities doing interstate commerce.

Fall Meeting of the American Trucking Associations (ATA) Technology & Maintenance Council

Closing out the month from Sept 17-21 is the ATA Technology & Maintenance Council’s annual educational session at the Huntington Convention Center in Cleveland, OH. This year's theme is, “Excellence in Maintenance for Quality Control.”

While there will be plenty of time for informational opportunities, there are also several fun events taking place during the five-day stretch:

  • National Technician Skills Competitions
  • National Student Technician Competition
  • TEC Technician Training Fair
  • Trailblazers in Thought Leadership

Get Ahead of Annual DOT Compliance Deadlines

The end of 2023 is getting closer and closer! While you’re looking into these upcoming compliance-related events, consider checking if you’ve fulfilled your annual DOT compliance requirements as well. (Think FMCSA Clearinghouse queries, MVR checks, and vehicle inspection reports).

Not sure how to navigate these requirements with only a few months left? Let Foley’s DOT compliance specialists help. Request a demo of our software or contact us with any questions you may have.
