OCTOBER 24, 2019 – As the hours of service comment period closes this week, the focus turns to the DOT Clearinghouse and AOBRD deadline, both of which are coming in the next few months. With registration for the Clearinghouse now open, employers, drivers, third-party administrators and others involved in the DOT drug testing process are being encouraged to create a Clearinghouse account to ensure they’re ready when the regulation goes into effect.
Other big news out of Washington is the resignation of FMCSA Administrator Ray Martinez who will leave his position at the end of October. Until a replacement is found, FMCSA Chief Counsel Jim Mullen will likely assume the role of acting administrator. Martinez will move to a new role within the DOT that is located in Massachusetts – an area that brings him closer to family.
