June 2024: What’s New in Safety & DOT Compliance
4:12

Summer 2024 is almost here, and so is a long list of safety awareness initiatives, fun and informative industry events, and an important DOT compliance registration deadline.

June is National Safety Month. This National Safety Council observance has four themes – one for each week of the month — to encourage awareness of on-the-job and off-the-job safety. This year’s focuses are safety engagement; roadway safety; risk reduction; and slips, trips, and falls.

There are also a few specific days in June worth highlighting. June 6th is National Secure Your Load Day, emphasizing the importance of properly securing cargo before getting on the road. National Forklift Safety Day is June 13th, promoting forklift best practices for improved safety. National Ride to Work Day is held on June 19th, representing the high number of diverse motorcyclists regularly taking to the streets. Be sure to drive with extra caution on that day!

Upcoming June 2024 Safety Events

With the start of summer just around the corner, now is the time to check out the industry’s upcoming events taking place around the country.

Electric Utility Fleet Managers Conference (EUFMC)

Hosted at the Williamsburg Lodge and Conference Center in Williamsburg, VA on June 2-5 is the 69th annual EUFMC. Fleets that operate utility equipment are encouraged to attend the educational conference. This year’s theme is “Driving Safety, Sustainability & Technical Expertise,” which will be bolstered by presentations by industry experts, manufacturers, and fleet executives.

A few of the topics and presenters include Brian L. Wolff, Chief Strategy Officer and Executive Vice President, Public Policy and External Affairs at Edison Electric Institute (EEI), as well as the Iron Cowboy, James Lawrence, as the dinner speaker. The first Women in Utility Fleet gathering will also happen at this year's event. You can register for the conference here.

ATHS National Convention & Truck Show

If trucks are your thing, you need to be at the American Truck Historical Society’s National Convention and Truck Show! From June 6-8 at the York Expo Center in York, PA, nearly 1,000 trucks and trailers will be on display. Informative speakers will cover interesting topics throughout the three-day event, including Appraising Your Truck, Truck Tires 101, and more.

Reserve your spot by registering here now!

TCA’s Annual Safety & Security Division

Taking place at the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter in San Antonio, TX from June 2-4 is the Truckload Carriers Association’s (TCA) Safety & Security Meeting.

As an attendee, you’ll be invited to participate in “Safety in the Rounds” to actively solve common safety management and human-resource problems. Discussions usually touch on safety technologies, improving driver training programs, insurance and litigation best practices, and other key topics. Several other networking opportunities are available as well as learning about the industry’s latest products and services. You can register by clicking here.

2024 SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) Annual Conference & Expo

Taking place June 23-26 virtually and in-person in Chicago, SHRM24 invites HR professionals from across the globe for best-in-class programming, forming new partnerships, and discovering the newest HR-related products and services in the industry.

The event will feature many prominent speakers, including Jason Sudeikis and Sherri Shepherd, as well as the SHRM CEO himself. Tuesday night's entertainment includes Kelly Clarkson and Jay Leno! Register now by clicking here.

Helpful DOT Compliance Reminder
