Stay up to date with the latest industry happenings, and see how DOT compliance services play a major role in Roadcheck 2023 prep.

May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month and National Bicycle Safety Month. With temperatures on the rise, we'll soon see rising numbers of motorcyclists and bicyclists on the roadways. Reminding your drivers to be observant of those they share the road with and avoid driving distracted can save previous lives.

Speaking of rising temperatures, your drivers will soon be working in the summer heat. An updated DOT physical exam can help ensure they don't have any health conditions that may impact their safety on the road and while loading/unloading their cargo.

If any employees need an exam sooner than later, Foley can help you find the most convenient office location within our nationwide network of FMCSA-certified medical examiners.

Upcoming Safety Events

The month of May offers various events throughout the country that should be noted for transportation industry or who depend on CDL drivers to keep their companies moving.

ACT Expo

ACT Expo is a trade show and conference showcasing the latest sustainable technologies, equipment, and fuels for the transportation industry. Registrants will have exclusive hands-on access to over 150 commercial vehicles featuring renewable fuels, electric power sources, and autonomous tech.

The Ride and Drive event even offers the chance to take any of the 24 available clean-energy vehicles for a spin! Industry professionals are invited to network, learn about new solutions, and discuss the future of sustainable transportation in Anaheim, CA from May 2-4. You can secure your spot here.

2022 Mother's Day Truck Convoy

The Make-A-Wish Mother's Day Truck Convoy is an annual event organized by Make-A-Wish Philadelphia, Delaware, and Susquehanna Valley that brings together truckers, families, and supporters to grant wishes for children with critical illnesses.

Hundreds of trucks travel through Lancaster County, PA every year to raise funds and awareness for the organization. Families will gather on May 14 this year to enjoy carnival games, local food trucks, and an opportunity to look at hundreds of trucks (over 500 drivers are expected to attend this year's event!).

Click It or Ticket High-Visibility Enforcement Campaign

This year's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) "Click It or Ticket" campaign will be held May 22-June 4. The event aims to increase seat belt use and save lives on the road through increased enforcement of seat belt laws, and citations issued to drivers and passengers who aren't wearing them.

It's an especially timely campaign, considering the kickoff of summer travel and road trips typically begins around Memorial Day. Ensure your drivers  whether they operate commercial vehicles or passenger vehicles  buckle up this week and every day to stay safe and avoid tickets.

DOT Compliance Reminder: Make Sure You’re Roadcheck Ready

International Roadcheck, the annual 72-hour roadside inspection event, will take place May 16-18 throughout North America.

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) has set the focus areas for 2023 Roadcheck as cargo securement and anti-lock braking systems (ABS), but drivers and safety managers should be prepared for inspectors to check the entire interior and exterior of their commercial vehicles.

Inspectors will also look into driver qualification documents, such as licenses and medical certificates. Now is the time to ensure your DOT driver qualification files are up to date.
