The 2025 CVSA Roadcheck Inspections Start Now

Are your vehicles and drivers ready for this year's CVSA roadside inspections?
Starting today, May 13, 2025, through Thursday, inspectors across North America will be pulling over trucks for random roadside inspections as part of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s annual Roadcheck campaign.
The focus areas of this year’s event are tires and records of duty status (RODS).
What Will Roadcheck Inspections Involve?
In most cases, inspectors will conduct a 37-point, Level One – North American Standard Inspection, which will look for both driver and vehicle safety requirements.
This will include an inspection of the driver’s CDL, medical card, record of duty status (if required), seat belt usage, and vehicle inspection reports. It will also include a comprehensive look at components such as the vehicle’s brake systems, cargo securement, fuel systems, frames, exhaust systems, steering mechanisms, suspensions, tires, and windshield wipers.
Common Reasons for Roadside Inspection Failures
During last year's Roadcheck, 13,567 vehicle violations (a 20% increase from Roadcheck 2023), 2,714 driver violations, and 163 hazardous materials/dangerous goods (HM/DG) violations were cited.
The top reasons these drivers and vehicles were put out of service were problems with a vehicle’s brake systems, tires and wheels, and cargo securement. For drivers, the top issues involved hours of service, having a canceled or revoked license, and false records of duty statuses.
