Hours-of-Service / Driver Log Auditing
Recently, Foley Services began a driver log auditing service to help companies comply with the changing and complex hours-of-service regulations based on customer requests over the years. The DOT regulates on-duty hours using either a seven or an eight-day workweek, with different driving and rest requirements. Drivers are responsible for documenting the various duty hours in a daily logbook and keeping supporting receipts. Employers are responsible for having a comprehensive program for auditing the log books and supporting documentation provided by the drivers. The regulations regarding hours-of-service changed in January and will probably change again based on some recent court challenges. Foley Services driver log auditing service checks the following areas:
- duplicate log
- date
- mileage
- carrier name
- carrier address
- unit number
- signature
- co-driver name (if applicable)
- duty status totals (missing)
- duty-change location
- shipping information
- vehicle inspection report
- grid
- team miles
- off-duty days
- missing log
- duty status totals miscalculated
- origin & destination
- pre-trip inspection
- post–trip inspection
- speeding
- hours-of-service violations
