Foley Services, Inc. is proud to announce the unveiling of our newest publication: New American Trucker. Coming in early 2009, New American Trucker is aimed at new entrants to the motor carrier industry and at new drivers for established firms.

Did you know that 75% of all American communities depend solely on trucking for the movement of commodities? The need for trucks and truck drivers is very great. There are currently more than 15 million trucks operating in the U.S. The industry is also growing at an impressive rate; 40,000 new motor carriers enter the industry every year.

Those numbers are an impressive reminder of how vital to America’s economy you are, however they are also something you should be concerned about. The motor carrier industry is very competitive. As such, you will have to work hard and be very careful in order to make your business a success. Members of the motor carrier industry face a number of challenges: competition, the rigors of the business, such as fuel costs and truck maintenance, and dealing with the Department of Transportation (DOT). On top of all that, they need to know, understand and comply with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs)
