Mandatory HazMat Employee Initial Awareness Training
The newly-formed Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) (formerly the Research and Special Programs Administration - RSPA) who issues all Federal Hazmat Regulations has established new requirements to reduce HazMat Security risks associated with terrorism. As part of these new rules, all companies that transport hazardous materials in an amount requiring placarding, as well as some new high-risk areas, must have a HazMat Security Plan specific to your company in place or you will face shutdown and steep fines! These regulations are expressed in CFR 49 Part 172.
In addition to the requirement for each employer to prepare a custom Hazmat Security Plan, PHMSA requires these two (2) types of training:
- Initial Employee Hazmat Security Awareness Training (this video)
- In-depth Hazmat Security Training
